Baotasi Temple

This temple practices according to the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the absolute truth in the Tripitaka and Tantras of Sakyamuni Buddha. We abide by the five precepts, carry out the ten kinds of wholesome behavior, and put into practice the four immeasurable states of mind. Out of great compassion and bodhicitta, we benefit all living beings, promote harmony in society, and pray for world peace.

True Buddha-Dharma Center was founded in Los Angeles, California, USA and is a non-profit Buddhist organization registered in the United States. During the many years since its creation, True Buddha-Dharma Center has consistently abided by and held in high respect the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Sakyamuni Buddha. We have been practicing and teaching in accordance with the dharma and have been bringing in people to Buddhist practices based on Buddhist teachings. In order to spread Buddha-dharma that is based on correct understanding and correct views, True Buddha-Dharma Center decided to purchase land in Los Angeles County and build a temple that conforms to and abides by the dharma so that a group of Buddhist monks could be assembled on the premises to shoulder the responsibilities handed down by the Tathagata.

After more than a year of searching and many twists and turns, an appropriate and auspicious location was finally found thanks to the unyielding efforts of many Buddhist disciples.

As we stepped outside after having just signed the land purchase agreement on July 25, 2014, colorful clouds and with dazzling rays of light unexpectedly appeared in the sky. Amid those rays of light, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva appeared in the sky standing on top of a white stupa. The Bodhisattva was wearing pure white robes with fluttering sleeves, looking majestic beyond compare. (See the picture on the left. Below is a partial enlargement.)

The many people who saw that were extremely moved. They continually knelt and prostrated on the ground. Before long, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva gradually disappeared in the sky. That holy scene, which someone photographed, was truly an extremely auspicious occurrence!

Five days later, on July 30th, in response to the wonderful karmic conditions of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva revealing Herself, it was decided that the temple would be named Baotasi (Jeweled Stupa Temple).
At noon of that day, an auspicious phenomenon again appeared above the land on which Baotasi was to be built. A Buddha-light manifested in the sky, forming a circle around the sun. It was as large as a mountain and lasted for a long time without dispersing. Many people witnessed it. (See the picture on the right.)

On March 20, 2016, right before breaking ground at Baotasi’s construction site, we respectfully requested and received dharma water that underwent a special practice performed by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The purpose of that special practice was related to the construction work on that site. We sprinkled the dharma water on the land to bless it. This enabled the spirits of all living beings who would be fatally hurt by the construction to be raised to a higher realm and thereby experience increased good fortune and wisdom. The dharma water also prevented the arrival of all demons who would come to do damage and eliminated all obstacles.
When the dharma water from His Holiness the Buddha was being sprinkled on the construction site to bless it, a Buddha-light emerged through thick clouds in the sky, bringing joy and admiration to all who saw it. (See the picture on the right.)
Auspicious phenomena appeared three times over this auspicious land. The inception of Baotasi was as wonderful as that!
